Drawing and painting in Gants Hill

timportraitsml My Tuesday and Thursday morning classes aim to provide a thorough grounding in art, exploring a variety of subjects, media and techniques through projects that are both enjoyable and challenging.

These classes are aimed at those who have an interest in traditional techniques and approaches in drawing and painting, who at the same time wish to be fully creative and exploratory with their materials and imagery.

As the tutor, I will address each student’’s needs and interests on an individual basis, whether they are total beginners or fully experienced. The classes do not involve any diplomas or outside examination authorities, but are instead wholly concerned with each student’’s personal creativity and development within the subject.

During the course of the year we will be covering various subjects such as still life, landscape, portrait or figure and imaginative imagery in a variety of media and techniques, with particular attention to light and shade, colour, shape, texture and composition. All this sounds very serious, but I aim for the classes to be fun too.

031ccClasses run from 10:40 am – 12:40 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays (we take the usual holiday and half term breaks – see calendar for dates). Students are welcome to join at any time during the year.

Drawing boards and easels are available but students should bring their own drawing and painting materials.

Tea, coffee and other refreshments will be available.

Perhaps you’re interested, but unsure whether these classes are right for you? New students are welcome to come along for a free ‘taster’ session before enrolling.

These classes are held at Redbridge Social Centre.
